Beaumont Hotel
Ouray, CO 81427
The historic Beaumont Hotel was built in 1886 and has hosted a number of celebrities and world leaders, including Presidents Hoover and Theodore Roosevelt. One of its guests seem as though she will never check out, however, even though she died long ago. The apparition of a woman is said to walk the hotel halls at 2:15 on the morning of every quarter moon. Locals say that this poor woman was murdered by her husband while staying at the Beaumont, and that on the anniversary of her death the horrific scene replays, but with only her ghost visible.

We recently stayed in room 305. I woke up at about 2:00 a.m. because a woman was laughing. It was a rather mocking type of laugh and seemed to be coming from the wall at the foot of our bed. I thought perhaps it was someone in another room. About 2:30, my husband got up to go to the bathroom. Rather than turning on his bedside lamp, he used a flashlight. As he was walking back toward the bed, a black form suddenly hurtled from the bed toward the wall at the foot of the bed. When we checked out, I told the woman at the front desk what had happened. She said that a male pastry chef had murdered a chambermaid named Eller in room 305 in the 1800s. We like the Beaumont, but won’t be staying in room 305 again!

I didn't see any ghosts or paranormal activity, but felt uneasy by myself in the lobby in the early morning hours
