Oxford Hotel
Denver, CO 80202
This hotel was built in 1891 and is now Art Deco style after being renovated to a 1930's remodel. The old hotel is rumored to have a few ghosts, according to reports. One spirit of a man in a postal worker uniform from many years ago sat down at the bar and ordered a beer. He was seen drinking it, but when he left, the bartender found it still full. He is believed to be the spirit of a postal worker who disappeared and was found dead with all his packages in the spring. Another spirit appears in Room 320, a young woman who was killed by her husband when he caught her in the room with another man.

Sorry this might be long but I just got home and am still a little creeped. Might be nothing but still… On a work trip to Denver I chose to stay at the Oxford because I love historical buildings, and especially art deco style. When I first checked in, everything was great and I had a room on the 2nd floor. Unpacked, left for work, and came back in the evening. I decided to explore the hotel and take a bunch of pictures to send to the family. The longer I explored along the 2nd floor, the more unsettled I became. It’s unusually quiet even though the lobby (one floor down with an open balcony on the 2nd floor) was super bustling and noisy with music. I was trying to find the gym, followed the signs, and ended up at the end of a back hallway with a service elevator (didn’t realize it was for staff at the time - unmarked). Pressed the button and waited, as I waited the hairs on my neck stood up and I got goosebumps. Felt like someone was watching me. Quickly stepped into the elevator and went down to the spa. Stepped off and spooked the staff down there who looked at me like I was crazy for appearing out of nowhere? Nervous laughter from them. Explored the area and went back to the elevator to go up to my room. Got inside pressed the button.. nothing. Pressed again, nothing. Repeat x 3. Doors closed and reopened and a housekeeper stood there looking startled. Entered the elevator and had to enter a code to get it to move anywhere. Apparently you need a code to go up OR DOWN? Kept looking at me out of the corner of their eye like they were confused? Didn’t say anything to me. Elevator opened and he stepped out first, I followed. I looked down the side hallway which was filled with beautiful but SUPER creepy feeling office spaces (think backrooms). Stepped into the hallway to look further down and instantly felt that same sensation of being watched and my instinct saying to run. High tailed it back to my room. Housekeeper no where in sight even though I had just looked/stepped over for two seconds, and I should’ve seen him on my speed walk to my room as it was at the other end of the hotel. After that, all night long I had the shivers and creeps. Slept with bathroom light on and tv blaring loud. Woke up every 30 minutes heart pounding. Could hear footsteps outside of my room all night, and saw shadows under the door, but no one was in the hall when I tiptoed to check the peephole, tv kept going staticky and turning itself off. Freaked me out and had the sensation of being watched. Literally covered the wardrobe mirror facing the bed with a towel cause I was sure I would wake up and see something in it. Night two I didn’t explore at all. Locked myself in the room and didn’t have any experiences aside from my backpack flopping itself off a chair like someone knocked it over. Freaked me out to say the least!! Gorgeous hotel, especially the lobby, but I don’t think I’d stay there again bc I got so spooked. Even in the pics I took on the first night, there’s nothing really there aside from the hotel itself, but I get the creeps looking at the hallway images and especially the ones I took by the service elevator.

I was booked at the Oxford this week for a work conference. Arrived Tuesday evening, checked in and was given my room key. Proceeded to unpack my toiletries, shower then head to bed. A couple minutes after getting in bed I heard a noise in my bathroom. I got up and my hairbrush was on the floor. I then moved it to the back of the counter, went to bed and it was back on the floor a few hours later.
Every time I walked into my room, I got a bad feeling, goosebumps and full body chills to the point that I kept all the lamps and my tv's on 24/7. Each night after going to bed I kept waking up every 30 - 45 minutes to some sort of noise and just a very uneasy feeling all night long. I flew back home this morning and while picking up my baggage my husband sent me an article about the murder suicide in room 320 and that its haunted by a woman ghost (who prefers men guests, but I still felt her presence even though I never knew about it being haunted).
My room was 320. I am still getting full body chills at home in Florida all while I write this.
