Denver Courthouse
Denver, CO 80202
The Denver Courthouse was built from 1912 to 1932 and it replaced the original courthouse from the late 1800's. The old courthouse building is the one that is said to be haunted. In 1900, a janitor reported that the gates of Hell opened up on its second floor one morning at 3 A.M. He said spirits of the dead walked around here every night for six nights, and the incident left an overpowering smell of brimstone. The two workers that witnessed this ended up quitting their jobs, and left Denver all together. After the building was demolished, some say a few ghosts may have moved into the new building and they inhabit the second floor.
