The Hamill House dates all the way back to 1867 and was one of the oldest in Georgetown, a once-wealthy town known as the "Silver Queen of Colorado." The Hamil Family made its fortune in the local silver-mining business. At the time, the home was considered one of the nicest in the area, but it went into decline soon after the price of silver plummeted in 1893 and pretty much all local mines were shut down. The good thing was that the house pretty much stayed the same ever since the 1890's because the owners could not afford to update and change it to fit later generations. As a result to this, the majority of the homes original fixtures, wallpaper, furniture, etc. still remain to this day. There have been several eerie occurences at the home (which is now owned by the local historical society). An independent film was being filmed on the location at one point and an actress went to an upstairs bedroom (once used by Priscilla Hamill) to practice some operatic singing. She stated later on that she swore she saw a whoosing Victorian-era dress dash past the doorway. She was later surprised to learn that she was the only person upstairs. Paranormal investigations have claimed to have captured ghostly responses to questions via flashlights and other ghost-hunting paraphernalia.
